    About this duration

Five seconds gives you a short burst with several pace buckets to inspect. A fast first second can raise the average even if the remaining seconds are steadier, so use the chart to understand the total. One additional click changes the final result by 0.2 CPS. Keep technique consistent and compare five-second sessions with the same input device. This dedicated entry opens with five seconds selected; the visible duration control still lets you explore other windows. Your local history follows the actual selected duration, so a later mode change does not mix results.

Start with a repeatable clicking technique

Choose a duration before starting. Your first press on the panel starts the timer and counts as the first click. Every accepted primary press before the deadline adds one to the total. The live speed estimate uses elapsed time, while the final CPS divides the full click count by the selected duration. The panel stays in place after time expires, and a brief restart guard helps prevent an accidental new run.

    Understand the timing window

Timing uses performance.now rather than adding a fixed amount on each animation frame. A press checks the deadline independently, so a delayed display update cannot admit a late click. The live counter is redrawn on animation frames and the chart groups presses into one-second buckets. A one-second burst can produce a volatile result; a sixty-second run measures a different mix of coordination, technique and endurance.

    Read the practice bands cautiously

Below four CPS is labeled Steady start, four to below eight Building speed, eight to below twelve Fast clicking, and twelve or more High-speed clicking. These labels are descriptive interface bands chosen for this tool. They are not measured population averages, esports qualification standards or proof of a particular mouse technique. Intentional double clicking, accessibility settings and automation can affect a count, so the test is a personal practice tool rather than a competition referee.

Keep the comparison comfortable and fair

Use a normal grip, keep the pointer inside the panel and stop if repetitive clicking becomes uncomfortable. Compare the same duration and technique across sessions. Mouse, trackpad, touch and keyboard activation are different inputs and should not be mixed in one comparison. This test does not diagnose switch faults; use the double-click interval tester with slow isolated presses for that question. No result is sent to a leaderboard, and history is separated by duration.

Your result stays on this device

Completed game results are saved in this browser when local storage is available. Bests and recent history describe this device’s saved runs, not a public leaderboard. Changing browsers, clearing site data or using private browsing can remove them. Copy score writes only the visible result summary to your clipboard when you request it; sharing is your choice. Clear local game data removes scores, daily completion markers and the saved 2048 board for this origin. No game result is uploaded, and the games remain usable when persistent storage is unavailable. Use the rule table to check what the active mode measures before comparing another session. A changed duration, input method or grid difficulty can change the task even when the displayed score uses the same unit.

    Frequently asked questions

    How is CPS calculated?

Final CPS is accepted presses divided by the selected number of seconds. The first press counts.

Does holding a key inflate the result?

Repeated keyboard keydown events are ignored. Each deliberate activation must be a new press.

Are the speed bands global rankings?

No. They are descriptive practice bands without a reference population.

Can this diagnose a broken mouse?

No. For suspected switch repeats, use the interval tester and make slow isolated presses.
