Place seven queens with local constraints
Each row, column and colored region needs exactly one queen. Two queens must not touch, including diagonally adjacent cells. Unlike classical chess queens, queens farther apart on a diagonal are allowed here. Select a cell to place a queen, select it again to mark it with an exclusion cross, and select again to clear it. Conflict highlights identify queens sharing a row, column or region, or touching another queen.
The daily puzzle uses a shared date
Daily mode takes the current UTC date in YYYY-MM-DD form and hashes it into a seed for a deterministic pseudo-random generator. For the same implementation and date, players receive the same grid regardless of local timezone. The day changes at midnight UTC, rather than at every visitor’s local midnight. A daily board already open on screen stays the same until a new run or reload. Practice mode uses a fresh seed for another grid.
Why each grid has one solution
Generation first chooses a valid arrangement of seven queens, then grows connected colored regions from their positions. A backtracking solver counts solutions and accepts only a board with one valid solution. Failed candidates are retried within a bounded search. A deterministic unique fallback is used if necessary. This process ensures the published rules identify a complete answer, but it does not guarantee that every puzzle can be solved by a fixed collection of human deduction techniques or has a calibrated difficulty rating.
Time, history and sharing
The timer begins on your first placement and stops when seven conflict-free queens satisfy all rules. The daily completion is saved locally so a replay can be identified. Practice and daily bests are kept separately. Copy score produces a short date-and-time result without exposing the solved grid. Replays are permitted, and results are not independently verified or submitted to a leaderboard. This is an original browser puzzle implementation and has no affiliation with a social network or another puzzle publisher.
Your result stays on this device
Completed game results are saved in this browser when local storage is available. Bests and recent history describe this device’s saved runs, not a public leaderboard. Changing browsers, clearing site data or using private browsing can remove them. Copy score writes only the visible result summary to your clipboard when you request it; sharing is your choice. Clear local game data removes scores, daily completion markers and the saved 2048 board for this origin. No game result is uploaded, and the games remain usable when persistent storage is unavailable. Use the rule table to check what the active mode measures before comparing another session. A changed duration, input method or grid difficulty can change the task even when the displayed score uses the same unit.
Frequently asked questions
Can two queens share a long diagonal?
Yes. Only touching diagonals are prohibited. Row, column and colored-region uniqueness also apply.
When does the daily grid change?
New daily runs use the UTC date, changing at 00:00 UTC. An already open board is retained until reset.
Is there exactly one answer?
The generator counts solutions and accepts a grid only when it has a unique valid placement.
Can I play more than one puzzle?
Yes. Select Unlimited practice for a fresh generated grid. Daily mode can also be replayed.
